Today we were cleaning up the office and we came across some images we hadn’t seen for a while. This was a convent which existed around the 1880s in a remote part of the Cumbrian Lake District. It became infamous after a new Abbess took over and a slide towards occultism and isolation began.
Historical records show that one of the nuns was believed to be sacrificed at an altar on Christmas day. Soon after, the monastery was burnt to the ground in an alleged arson attack by some concerned church members from another town. Everyone survived except for the Abbess who refused to leave. Instead she burnt to death on her knees in the basement, reciting pages of an unholy book while whipping her back and laughing manically.
And on that note, have a great weekend.
